The general goal of the Laboratory for Experimental Cardiac Electrophysiology at Freiburg University - the Odening Lab - is to advance the mechanistic understanding of arrhythmogenesis in arrhythmia disorders. Using different transgenic animal models of human inherited arrhythmogenic diseases such as long-QT and short-QT syndrome our laboratory aims at elucidating how the arrhythmogenic phenotype is modulated by extrinsic and intrinsic factors - such as hormones or drugs - and electro-mechanical interactions in the heart.
